Ambrosia Margarita

Today, February 22nd, is National Margarita Day so, of course, a tea cocktail is my suggestion. This margarita is perfectly sweet, light + refreshing with a little tartness from the hibiscus creating a perfectly balanced drink.

If you don’t have the Ambrosia blend on hand, no worries. You can indulge luxuriously with this cocktail any day. Continue below for the ingredients + recipe. It also doesn’t hurt that this makes a beautiful red cocktail…perfect for Love Month! I’m sure you + anyone you share this with will love it!

Ingredients (yields 2-3)

  • 3 oz of your favorite tequila or tequila alternative

  • 4 oz brewed (1.5 heaping tsp dry) Ambrosia

  • 2 oz Cointreau orange liqueur or triple sec

  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

  • course salt or sugar

  • ice

  • dried Ambrosia for garnish, optional

  • honey for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Steep your Ambrosia according to instructions - 1.5 heaping tsp for every 8oz of water. This can be done by cold brewing your Ambrosia (preferred) or steeping hot + allowing it to cool.

  2. Rim a glass with one of the lime wedges and dip into coarse salt or sugar. Place lime wedge on glass for garnish.

** For a fancier garnish, mix dried Ambrosia with your salt or sugar garnish. Add some honey to the side of the glass + sprinkle the Ambrosia Salt/Sugar blend over the honey and press into the glass. Here is an example of Empress making a similar garnish with coconut.

  3. Fill glass with ice.

  4. Add tequila and triple sec in equal amounts across glasses.

  5. Fill each glass with your steeped Ambrosia.

  6. Serve and squeeze lime into glass before sipping. Enjoy!
